Mercy Ships Cargo Day is being held for the second year and Concordia Maritime is one of the companies supporting the activities on board Mercy Ships’ hospital ship. The participants can either donate part of their commission this day or choose a sum of money they want to donate, which they can also do after 4 October. The initiators, BRS (Barry Rogliano Salles) Group in Switzerland, Mercy Ships and the journal Tradewinds, invite ship owners, brokers, charterers, port agents and marine transport companies to participate and make a contribution to the poorest people in the world. Concordia Maritime also contributed last year when Mercy Ships Cargo Day was launched for the first time.

Mercy Ships is a charity organisation that provides surgeries, dental care and other qualified medical care free of charge for people in poor countries who have no access to necessary health and medical care. Since 1978, the organisation has treated more than 2.5 million patients. Mercy Ships operates the world’s largest private hospital ship, the Africa Mercy, with five fully equipped operating rooms on board.
In addition to surgeries, Mercy Ships works closely with training programs for nurses and doctors in the different host countries. In Cameroon, where the ship is currently stationed, Mercy Ships intends to provide more than 2,000 people in the local health and medical care services with mentorship, courses and other training.
