Mercy Ships is committed to respecting donors’ online privacy and security. The purpose of this policy is to make donors aware of our privacy policy and security practices, and to inform donors about the way any personal information gathered is collected and used.

In this privacy policy when we say “Mercy Ships”, “we”, “us” and “our” we mean Mercy Ships -U.K. Limited (company number 03147724) with registered charity number 1053055 in England and Wales and SCO39743 in Scotland. Our registered office is at The Lighthouse, 12 Meadway Court, Stevenage, Hertfordshire SG1 2EF.

Information we collect in order to register you into Cargo Day 2016 we will ask for information such as company name, your name, and contact details.


Mercy Ships is committed to ensuring the security of donors’ personal information. To prevent unauthorized use, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the appropriate use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online. We use Internet encryption software, Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol, when collecting or transferring sensitive data.

However, whilst we endeavour to protect the security and integrity of donors’ personal information, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure and accordingly we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information a donor transmits to us over the Internet. Each donor acknowledges and agrees that transmitting their personal information over the Internet is done at the donor’s risk.

Once a donor’s information is no longer required, we will destroy records containing personal information securely. Credit card information is used only for payment processing and is not retained for any other purpose.

How Mercy Ships uses this information

Mercy Ships uses information gathered to complete any transaction request made online, such as a donation or request for information.

Who we share this information with

Except as noted in this section, Mercy Ships will not disclose a donor’s personal information to others unless we have permission to do so by the donor or are required to do so by law.

We may share donors’ personal data with business partner(s) who are acting on our behalf to complete the activities described above. Such business partner(s) are governed by our data protection policy with respect to use of this information.


Mercy Ships will not use or share the personally identifiable information, which donors provide to us online, in ways unrelated to the ones described above without letting donors know first and offering them a choice. If donors do not want to receive unsolicited direct marketing requests from us, we will do our best to honour their request.

Donors have the right to request us to stop using their personal information, to obtain a copy of any personal information which we hold about them and to notify us of any inaccuracies.

We will be happy to answer any enquiries a donor may have regarding this privacy policy, the personal information we hold about the donor or the use we make of it.

We may charge you a small fee to cover our costs incurred in providing you with a copy of your information. You will also need to verify your identity and specify what information you require.
