Mission Accomplished
Record-breaking success for Mercy Ships Cargo Day 2023!
Your participation is changing lives across Africa.
Thank you for your amazing support.

A new chapter is opening for Mercy Ships with successful completion of the 37,000-gt newbuilding Global Mercy’s deepsea trials.

Built in China at the Tianjin Xingang Shipyard, Global Mercy will be the world’s largest civilian hospital ship.

“I am pleased to say that Global Mercy passed every test,” says Jim Paterson, Mercy Ships’ Marine Executive Consultant.

The worldwide shipping industry is a big supporter of Mercy Ships. During the last five years, charterers, brokers, owners and others have raised almost $4 million through the annual Cargo Day.

This year’s event is planned for November 10, 2021

Already, global energy trading market player Total Trading & Shipping has made a generous contribution.

The new, custom-built Global Mercy’s maiden voyage will be to Belgium where, as a guest of the Port of Antwerp, it will undergo several months of medical equipment and IT systems installation.

The ship, following stocking of supplies through Mercy Ships’ European Distribution Center in the Netherlands, will leave Rotterdam bound for Africa.

An Africa commissioning event is planned for Global Mercy’s arrival in Dakar, Senegal early 2022 when it will begin its initial field service.

The first of many during Global Mercy’s expected 50-year life span serving the poor of Africa.
